Back in 2016, HAPI core members brainstormed on projects to create homeschooling awareness in our country. Yes, HAPI was already at forefront of homeschool conferences then. The idea of setting a day as the National Homeschool Day for your
country was raised. HAPI checked and even submitted the day 3rd of March to an online site that sets national days for various causes but that route didn’t pan out.
Around the same time, a group of homeschoolers led by Nove Tan of the Philippine Homeschool Association set also an audience with the Senator Francis Pangilinan who was a believer of home education and was part of the Senate Committee on Education 2002-2004. Homeschooled children were also part of the meeting and they were even interviewed during this dialogue.
We shall start the year with heartwarming family building activities starting January, in celebration for our very FIRST, thanks to the efforts of Donna Pangilinan-Simpao, “Philippine National Homeschool Day” on March 3, 2017. Centering on our tagline winner theme: "Building up the Philippines, One Family at a Time."
Also, in June 2017, we will launch the official HAPI News mini-magazine!.

It was a great privilege to be part of this history in making goals of the Philippine Department of Education: Bureau of Learning Division BLD.
The team comprised of representatives from HAPI members, headed by Edric Mendoza of Homeschool Global together with Dr. Ingrid Yap of Kids World Integrated School, Beday Fortuna of Catholic Filipino Academy, Laksmi Maluya of Gopala SMILE and also HAPI program consultant and Michael Chua of School of Tomorrow.

his year, HAPI, in cooperation with Philam Life, is setting up the PHC to be even bigger and better than before.
Set to take place from 7 a.m. (open for registration) to 6 p.m. on October 22, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, SMX Aura Premier in Taguig City, the PHC 2016 bears the theme “From Roots to Wings: Homeschooling through the Stages”.
Hoping to meet the needs and address the concerns of homeschooling families at different stages – from learning more about homeschooling, getting started, and staying the course perhaps even up to the end of high school – the theme was inspired by the following lines of this poem:
